Intake Manifold: Service and Repair




Intake Manifold Removal and Installation

Exploded View





NOTE: Refer to the Exploded View if needed during this procedure.

Removal

1. Remove the engine cover.






2. Disconnect the breather pipe (A), then remove the intake air duct (B).






3. Disconnect the EVAP canister hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).





4. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (C), then plug the water bypass hoses.

5. Disconnect the MAP sensor connector (A) and the throttle body connector (B), then remove the wire harness clamps (C).






6. Remove the intake manifold bracket.






7. Disconnect the vacuum hoses (A) from the intake manifold.





8. Remove the vacuum hoses from the clamps (B).

9. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts/nuts, then remove the intake manifold from the cylinder head.






10. Disconnect the PCV hose (A) from the intake manifold (B).






Installation

1. Connect the PCV hose (A) to the intake manifold (B).






2. Install the intake manifold (A) with new gaskets (B), and tighten the bolts and nuts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.






3. Connect the vacuum hoses (A) to the intake manifold.





4. Install the vacuum hoses to the clamps (B).

5. Install the intake manifold bracket.






6. Connect the MAP sensor connector (A) and the throttle actuator connector (B), then install the wire harness clamps (C).






7. Connect the water bypass hoses (A).





8. Connect the EVAP canister hose (B) and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).

9. Install the intake air duct (A), then connect the breather pipe (B).

NOTE: When tightening the screw of the hose band (C), align the edge of the hose band (D) with the mark (E) painted on the hose band. If you tighten the screw over the mark, replace the hose band.






10. Install the engine cover.





11. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.

12. After installation, check that all tubes, hoses, and connectors are installed correctly.

13. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system Service and Repair.
