DTC Troubleshooting: B1837
DTC B1837:
Memory Position Calling Timeout
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode.
3. Move the power seat to the full front up and full rear up positions, then slide the seat all the way back and completely recline the seat-back backward with the power seat adjustment switch.
4. Set the seating position into memory by pressing either the Driver 1 or the Driver 2 position memory switch.
5. Using the power seat switches, move the seat away from the position just memorized.
6. Recall the memory position with the driving position memory switch.
7. Wait for 2 minutes.
8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�
9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are any DTCs other than B1837 indicated?
YES -
Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
11. Wait for 6 seconds.
12. Move each power seat motor one at a time, and check the operation time.
Does any motor fail to run smoothly?
YES -
Go to the power seat motor test Drivers Power Seat Motor Test (With Driving Position Memory System (DPMS)). If the motor is OK, check the engagement of the motor gear.�
NO -
Go to the power seat control unit input test Power Seat Control Unit Input Test/Replacement.�
