HandsFreeLink System Symptom Troubleshooting - The HFL system does not recognize all voice prompts
The HFL system does not recognize all voice prompts
NOTE: Make sure the client's phone is compatible with the Acura HFL system. See www.acura.com/handsfreelink for more information.
1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode.
4. Check for DTCs.
Are there any DTCs indicated?
YES -
Repair the indicated DTCs, and recheck.�
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Check if client's concern is duplicated.
Can the client's problem be duplicated?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
The system is OK at this time. Ask the client to demonstrate the concern. Try to duplicate the concern on a known-good vehicle. If the known-good vehicle has the same concern, it should be a characteristic of the system.�
6. If the vehicle is equipped with navigation system, check if the navigation system can recognize voice prompts.
Can the voice prompts be recognized?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Refer to the navigation system troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.�
7. Pair the client's phone to a known-good vehicle (same year and trim), and try to duplicate the concern.
Can you duplicate the concern?
YES -
Call the HFL call center at 888-528-7876, and inquire if there are any known issues for the concern. If there are no known issues, explain to the client this is a system characteristic and cannot be improved at this time.�
NO -
- With navigation system: Substitute a known-good front HFL-navigation-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal/Installation. If the concern goes away, replace the original front HFL-navigation-ANC/active sound control microphone Front HFL-Navigation-ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone Removal/Installation. If the concern is still present, replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.�
- Without navigation system: Substitute a known-good front HFL-ANC/active sound control microphone Service and Repair. If the concern goes away, replace the original front HFL-ANC/active sound control microphone Service and Repair. If the concern is still present, replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.�
