Rear Door Latch Replacement
NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Raise the glass fully.
2. Remove these items:
- Door panel Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation
- Inner handle
- Outer handle Service and Repair
3. Remove the plastic cover (A) as needed.
1. Disconnect the power door lock actuator connector (B), and detach the harness clip (C).
2. Remove the rear plug cap (D).
3. Pass the cables (E) through the slits (F) in the plastic cover.
NOTE: If the plastic cover is damaged or torn, replace it with a new one.
4. Remove the bolt (A) and the collar (B) from the rear lower channel (C). Pull away the door weatherstrip (D) as needed, and remove the screw (E).
5. Remove the screws (A, B) securing the latch (C), then remove the latch through the hole in the door.
NOTE: Take care not to bend the outer handle rod (D), the latch cable (E), or the inner handle cable (F).
6. Remove the foam seals (A, B) from the latch protector (C) and the latch (D).
7. Remove the screw, then remove the latch protector (A) as shown.
8. Disconnect the latch cable (A) and the inner handle cable (B) from the latch (C).
9. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Before reinstalling the latch protector, clean the latch and latch protector surfaces with isopropyl alcohol where the new foam seals will be attached.
- After reinstalling the latch protector to the latch, attach the new foam seals to the protector and the latch.
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the rod and each cable is connected securely.
- Make sure the door handle operates properly.
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly.
- Push the clip into place securely.
