Front Passenger's Airbag Replacement

NOTE: If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

Removal

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3minutes before starting work.

2. Remove the glove box Glove Box Removal/Installation.

3. Remove the screw, then remove the passenger's dashboard ducts (A).






4. Detach the harness clips (A). Pull down the wire harness, then disconnect the front passenger's airbag inflator 4P connector (B) on the dashboard wire harness.






5. Remove the mounting nuts (A) and the mounting bolts (B) from the front passenger's airbag (C).






6. Release the pin (A), then remove the front passenger's airbag (B) from the dashboard (C).






Installation

1. Place the front passenger's airbag (A) into the dashboard (B).

NOTE: Make sure the pin (C) of the front passenger's airbag is installed in the dashboard securely.






2. Install the front passenger's airbag (A) with the new mounting bolts (B) and the new mounting nuts (C).






3. Connect the front passenger's airbag inflator 4P connector (A) on the dashboard wire harness, then install the harness clips (B).






4. Install the passenger's dashboard ducts (A) with the screw.

NOTE: Make sure the passenger's dashboard ducts are connected securely.





5. Install the glove box Glove Box Removal/Installation.

6. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

7. Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

8. After installing the front passenger's airbag, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
