DTC Troubleshooting: B1008, B1011

DTC B1008:

MICU Lost Communication With Gauge Control Module (A/T Message)

DTC B1011:

MICU Lost Communication With Gauge Control Module (VSP/NE Message)

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Wait for at least 6 seconds.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1008 and/or B1011 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the MICU and gauge control module, if the connections are good, check the battery condition Battery Test and the charging system.

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are DTCs B1060, B1061, B1205, B1616, B1805, B1808, B2106, and B2160 all indicated?

YES -

Do the gauge control module input test Component Tests and General Diagnostics.

NO -

Check for an open in the communication circuit between the MICU and the gauge control module. If the circuit is OK, Faulty MICU; replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box Drivers Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box (MICU) Removal/Installation. If the circuit is bad, repair the open.
