DTC Troubleshooting: B1643

DTC B1643:

EXTOUT2 (LF2) Circuit Open/Short

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Select MODE MENU from the HDS, then enter SELF CHECK.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are any of the following DTCs B1659, B1660, B1663, B1664, B1667, and B1668 indicated with DTC B1643?

YES -

Troubleshoot the indicated DTCs other than DTC B1643 first, then recheck.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect these connectors.

- Keyless access control unit connector C (17P)
- Front interior LF antenna 2P connector

7. Check for continuity between body ground and keyless access control unit connector C (17P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire(s).

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Disconnect these connectors.

- Keyless access control unit connector B (24P)
- Rear interior LF antenna 2P connector

9. Check for continuity between body ground and keyless access control unit connector B (24P) terminals No. 2 and No. 3 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire(s).

NO -

Go to step 10.

10. Disconnect the rear shelf LF antenna 2P connector.

11. Check for continuity between body ground and keyless access control unit connector B (24P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire(s).

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Check for continuity between keyless access control unit connector C (17P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5 and front interior LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire(s).

13. Check for continuity between keyless access control unit connector B (24P) terminals No. 2 and No. 3 and rear interior LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire(s).

14. Check for continuity between keyless access control unit connector B (24P) terminals No. 4 and No. 5 and rear shelf LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 15.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire(s).

15. Connect these connectors.

- Keyless access control unit connector B (24P)
- Keyless access control unit connector C (17P)

16. Connect the voltmeter between front interior LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.






17. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

18. Select FUNCTIONAL TESTS from the TEST MODE menu with the HDS, and do FRONT INTERIOR ANTENNA L DC OUTPUT.

Is there voltage?

YES -

Replace the front interior LF antenna Keyless Access LF Antenna (Front Interior) Replacement.

NO -

Go to step 19.

19. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

20. Connect the voltmeter between rear interior LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.






21. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

22. Select FUNCTIONAL TESTS from the TEST MODE menu with the HDS, and do REAR INTERIOR ANTENNA L DC OUTPUT.

Is there voltage?

YES -

Replace the rear interior LF antenna Keyless Access LF Antenna (Rear Interior) Replacement.

NO -

Go to step 23.

23. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

24. Connect the voltmeter between rear shelf LF antenna 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.






25. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

26. Select FUNCTIONAL TESTS from the TEST MODE menu with the HDS, and do TRUNK ROOM ANTENNA L DC OUTPUT.

Is there voltage?

YES -

Replace the rear shelf LF antenna Keyless Access LF Antenna (Rear Shelf) Replacement.

NO -

Replace the keyless access control unit Keyless Access Control Unit Input Test/Replacement.
