VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 12-11, 14-11, 16-11, 18-11
DTC 12-11:
Right-Front Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Noise or Intermittent Interruption
DTC 14-11:
Left-Front Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Noise or Intermittent Interruption
DTC 16-11:
Right-Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Noise or Intermittent Interruption
DTC 18-11:
Left-Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Noise or Intermittent Interruption
NOTE:
- Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
- These DTCs may be caused by electrical interference. Check for aftermarket devices installed in the vehicle when these DTCs are indicated.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Test-drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.
5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 12-11, 14-11, 16-11, or 18-11 indicated?
YES -
If DTC 12-12, 14-12, 16-12, or 18-12 is indicated at the same time, do the DTC 12-12, 14-12, 16-12, or 18-12 troubleshooting first 12-12. If DTC 12-12, 14-12, 16-12, or 18-12 is not indicated, go to step 6.
NO -
If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting. If DTCs are not indicated, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Check that the appropriate wheel speed sensor is properly mounted Service and Repair.
Is the wheel speed sensor installation OK?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Reinstall the wheel speed sensor, and check the mounting position Service and Repair.
8. Update the VSA modulator-control unit if it does not have the latest software Testing and Inspection.
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
10. Test-drive the vehicle.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.
11. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 12-11, 14-11, 16-11, or 18-11 indicated?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector. If the VSA modulator-control unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then retest.
NO -
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
