Navigation System DTC Troubleshooting: 2704

DTC 2704:

HIP Diag (AcuraLink)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- This navigation DTC sets when a problem is detected in the COMM BUS (open or short) or in the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver).
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check for and resolve the CAN DTCs before troubleshoot the DTC 2704.
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System.

1. Clear the hard error code.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode.

4. Check the System Links.

Is the XM (HIP) icon red?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

5. Select the XM (HIP), then check the XM (HIP) System Links.

Is the Navi icons red?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Go to step 6.

6. Check the XM (HIP) System Links.

Is the HFL icon red?

YES -

Do the DTC 2705 troubleshooting With AcuraLink.

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

8. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

9. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

11. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any AcuraLink DTCs indicated?

YES -

Do the AcuraLink DTCs troubleshooting How to Troubleshoot the AcuraLink.

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

13. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and navigation unit connector D (5P).

14. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 15.

15. Check for continuity between body ground and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and body ground. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 16.

16. Check for continuity between body ground and navigation unit connector D (5P) terminals No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 17.

17. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and navigation unit connector D (5P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) AcuraLink Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) AcuraLink Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the navigation unit Service and Repair.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
