SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-2x

DTC 62-2x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):

Short in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch

NOTE:

- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed Service and Repair.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software Testing and Inspection, and retest.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.

3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 62-2x indicated?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Check the No. 21 (10A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box

Is the fuse OK?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Replace the fuse, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II). If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 21 (10 A) fuse circuit (left side wire harness, rear shelf wire harness, or right side wire harness); replace the faulty wire harness, then clear the DTC.

6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 4P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 4P connector (A).






8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

9. From the HDS Main menu, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select Buckle Switch, Seat Position Sensor, and check the status on the HDS screen for FRONT RIGHT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH.

Is OPEN indicated on the HDS?

YES -

Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.

NO -

Go to step 8.

10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

11. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.

12. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (39P) from the SRS unit.

13. Measure the resistance between body ground and front passenger's seat wire harness 4P connector terminal No. 1. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the right side wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.

14. Measure the resistance between body ground and front passenger's seat wire harness 4P connector terminal No. 2. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit Service and Repair.

NO -

Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the right side wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
