Symptom Troubleshooting




Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (without AcuraLink)

NOTE:

- Check vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Disconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Reconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

8. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2V?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.

9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

10. Disconnect these connectors:

- XM receiver connector A (14P)
- Navigation display unit 20P connector
- HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
- Navigation unit connector B (32P)

11. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 3 (the harness shield).









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 13.

12. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and the navigation display unit 20P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the XM receiver.

13. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

14. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and USB adapter control unit connector A (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation, then reconnect all of the connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal / Installation.

NO -

There is an open in the appropriate wire between the USB adapter control unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
