Front Door Latch Replacement
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the door or the related parts.
1. Raise the glass fully.
2. Remove the door pull pocket bracket Front Door Pull Pocket Bracket Replacement.
3. Remove the center lower channel.
4. Disconnect the outer handle rod from the outer handle.
5. Driver's door: Disconnect the door lock cylinder cable from the latch.
6. Remove the latch (A).
1. Disconnect the connector (B).
2. Remove the screws (C, D) securing the latch.
3. Detach the harness clip (E) to release the wire harness from the door.
4. Pass the latch cable (F) and the inner handle cable (G) through the space between the door and the wire harness, then remove the latch through the hole in the door.
NOTE: Take care not to kink the latch cable and the inner handle cable.
7. Remove the screw, and remove the latch protector (A), then disconnect the latch cable (B) and the inner handle cable (C).
8. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the power door lock actuator connector is plugged in properly.
- Make sure the outer handle rod and each cable are connected securely.
- Replace the outer handle rod bushing with a new one.
- Make sure the door lock operates properly.
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to prevent water leaks.
- If the inner door handle cable end is damaged or stress-whitened, replace it with a new one.
