Rear Door Latch: Service and Repair




Rear Door Latch Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the door or the related parts.

1. Remove the door glass Service and Repair.

2. Remove the latch (A).

1. Remove the screws (B, C) securing the latch, then lower the latch.

2. Remove the maintenance seal (D).

3. Disconnect the outer handle rod (E) from the outer handle with a clip remover.

4. Disconnect the connector (F).

5. Remove the latch through the hole in the door.

NOTE: Take care not to kink the latch cable (G) and inner handle cable (H).





3. Remove the screw, and remove the latch protector (A), then disconnect the latch cable (B) and the inner handle cable (C).





4. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Make sure the power door lock actuator connector is plugged in properly.
- Make sure the outer handle rod and each cable are connected securely.
- Replace the outer handle rod bushing with a new one.
- Make sure the door lock operates properly.
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to prevent water leaks.
- If the inner door handle cable end is damaged or stress-whitened, replace it with a new one.
