Parking Brake Cable Replacement
Exploded View
NOTE:
- The parking brake cable must not be bent or distorted. This will lead to stiff operation and premature cable failure.
- Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.
Front Parking Brake Cable Replacement
1. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover Driver's Dashboard Undercover Removal / Installation.
2. Release the parking brake pedal.
3. Remove the parking brake adjusting nut (A) and the cable clip (B) from the front parking brake cable.
4. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the parking brake pedal assembly (C).
5. Remove the center console Center Console Removal / Installation.
6. Remove rear vent duct C Service and Repair.
7. Pull back the carpet from the driver's footwell to access the parking brake cables.
8. Disconnect and remove the return spring (A).
9. Remove the wire guide base (A), then disconnect the rear parking brake cables (B) from the equalizer (C).
10. Remove the parking brake cable bracket bolts (D).
11. Remove the front parking brake cable mounting hardware, then remove the front parking brake cable.
12. Install the front parking brake cable in the reverse order of removal.
13. Adjust the parking brake Adjustments.
NOTE: Do the Major Adjustment first, then do the Minor Adjustment. Apply the parking brake firmly 10 times, then do the Minor Adjustment.
Rear Parking Brake Cables Replacement
1. Release the parking brake pedal.
2. Remove the center console Center Console Removal / Installation.
3. Remove rear vent duct C Service and Repair.
4. Disconnect and remove the return spring (A).
5. Remove the wire guide base (A), then disconnect the rear parking brake cables (B) from the equalizer (C).
6. Remove the parking brake shoes, and disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever assembly Removal and Replacement.
7. Remove the parking brake cable mounting bolts from the backing plate (A), and remove the parking brake cable bracket (B).
8. Pull the parking brake cable (C), and remove it from the backing plate.
9. Remove the parking brake cable mounting bolts (A) from the body floor.
10. Remove the parking brake cable grommets (B), and pull out the parking brake cable from the body floor.
11. Remove the rear parking brake cable mounting hardware, then remove the rear parking brake cable.
12. Install the rear parking brake cable in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE: Be careful not to bend or distort the cable.
13. Adjust the parking brake Adjustments.
NOTE: Do the Major Adjustment first, apply the parking brake firmly 10 times, then do the Minor Adjustment.
