DTC Troubleshooting: B1776

DTC B1776:

Microphone input/output shorted to ground (with navigation)

NOTE: Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.

1. Do the HFL Self-Diagnostic Function, and check for HFL DTCs.

Is DTC B1776 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 2.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

3. Disconnect the HFL-navigation microphone 7P connector.

4. Remove the center console panel Center Console Panel Removal / Installation.

5. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector.

6. Check for continuity between HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector terminals No. 14 and No. 15.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the HFL-navigation microphone. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Check for continuity between HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector terminal No. 15 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the HFL-navigation microphone. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).

9. Check for continuity between HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector terminal No. 31 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 10.

10. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) terminals No. 14 and No. 28.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the HandsFreeLink control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Substitute a known-good HFL-navigation microphone HFL-Navigation Microphone Removal / Installation.

12. Reconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).

13. Do the HFL Self-Diagnostic Function, and check for HFL DTCs.

Is DTC B1776 indicated?

YES -

Substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.

NO -

Replace the original HFL-navigation microphone HFL-Navigation Microphone Removal / Installation.
