DTC Troubleshooting: B1779
DTC B1779:
HandsFreeLink steering wheel switch failure (with navigation)
NOTE: Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
1. Start the vehicle, and turn the steering wheel left and right several times.
2. Do the HFL Self-Diagnostic Function, and check for HFL DTCs.
Is DTC B1779 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
4. Do the HFL Switch Test HFL Switch Test.
Is the switch OK?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Replace the audio remote, HFL-navigation voice control switch Overhaul.
5. Remove the center console panel Center Console Panel Removal / Installation.
6. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector.
7. Disconnect the audio remote, HFL-navigation voice control switch 12P connector, and connect the cable reel connectors.
8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
9. Measure the voltage between audio remote, HFL-navigation voice control switch 12P connector terminal No. 9 and body ground.
Is there voltage?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
11. Check for continuity between HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector terminal No. 2 and audio remote, HFL-navigation voice control switch 12P connector terminal No. 9.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 16.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the switch, the cable reel, and the HandsFreeLink control unit.
12. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
13. Disconnect cable reel connector A (20P).
14. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
15. Measure the voltage between HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there voltage?
YES -
Repair a short to power in the wire between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the cable reel.
NO -
Replace the cable reel Service and Repair.
16. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector A (24P).
NOTE: Eject all the discs before disconnecting the audio-navigation unit to prevent damaging the CD/DVD player's load mechanism.
17. Check for continuity between audio remote, HFL-navigation voice control switch 12P connector terminal No. 11 and audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) terminal No. 5.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the switch, the cable reel, and the audio-navigation unit.
