DTC 1801:
HIP Error

NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- This navigation DTC sets when a problem (open or short) is detected in the COMM BUS.
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System.
- Check for and resolve any B-CAN DTCs before troubleshooting.
- Check any official Honda service website for any service information about the AcuraLink or software updates.
1. Clear the hard error code.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or the ON mode.
3. Check for the hard error code.
Is DTC 1801 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
5. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P), and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).
Are the connections or terminals OK?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Repair poor connections or loose terminals, and recheck.
6. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
8. Check for XM (HIP) communication with the HDS.
Does the XM (HIP) communicate with the HDS?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Go to AcuraLink troubleshooting.
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
10. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).
11. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between body ground and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 13.
13. Connect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 to body ground with jumper wires.
14. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) terminals No. 9, No. 10, No. 22, and No. 23 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
