Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Volume does not change

Volume does not change (with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Set the fader and balance positions to the center.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Turn on the audio system, and check for sound in each mode (AM/FM and CD or DVD).

Is the sound normal?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to Sound Quality Diagnosis Audio System Sound Quality Diagnosis or No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.

3. Operate the volume knob to see if the volume changes.

Does the volume change?

YES -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

5. Disconnect the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector.

6. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector D (36P).

7. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and audio-navigation unit connector D (36P) according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation switch panel and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

8. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and body ground according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 9.

9. Check for continuity between the terminals of the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation switch panel and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation, then reconnect all of the connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation.
