Trunk / Liftgate Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair

Trunk Lid Opener Cable Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body.
- Take care not to kink the trunk lid opener cable.

1. Remove these items:

- Rear seat cushion Rear Seat Removal / Installation
- Rear seat-back Rear Seat Removal / Installation
- Trunk lid hinge trim
- Trunk lid trim panel
- Trunk side trim panel, left side Interior Trim Removal / Installation - Trunk Area
- Trunk upper trim panel

2. Disconnect the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the latch (B).





3. Detach the clips (C, D, E) with a clip remover.

4. Remove the trunk lid opener cable (A) from the opener cable bracket (B).





5. Detach the clips (C, D) with a clip remover.

6. Remove the trunk lid opener cable from the vehicle.

7. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clips (C) as shown.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Make sure the trunk lid opens properly and locks securely.
