Keyless Access System Symptom Troubleshooting - The engine cranks but will not start with keyless access
The engine cranks but will not start with keyless access
1. Turn the keyless access system mode switch ON.
2. Remove the remote from the remote slot.
3. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
4. Check the immobilizer indicator.
Is the immobilizer indicator blinking?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Go to step 15.
5. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
6. Select KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT from the ONE-PUSH START system select menu with the HDS, and enter SYSTEM INFORMATION.
7. Do the SYSTEM CHECK 1 with the HDS.
Is N-1 OK indicated?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -

8. Do the SYSTEM CHECK 2 with the HDS.
Is N-2 OK indicated?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Troubleshoot the keyless access system according to the result of the SYSTEM CHECK 2 Keyless Access System Symptom Troubleshooting Information.
9. Select KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT from the ONE-PUSH START system select menu with the HDS, and enter DATA LIST.
10. Check the ESL SW B in the DATA LIST.
Is the indicator ON?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM/PCM and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original ECM/PCM Service and Repair. If not, replace the keyless access control unit.
NO -
Go to step 11.
11. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
12. Disconnect keyless access control unit connector C (5P).
13. Disconnect the electric steering lock 12P connector.
14. Check for continuity between electric steering lock 12P connector terminal No. 11 and keyless access control unit connector C (5P) terminal No. 4.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the keyless access control unit.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
15. Check the immobilizer indicator.
Does the indicator come on?
YES -
Go to the PGM-FI system symptom troubleshooting .
NO -
Go to step 16.
16. Select GAUGES from the BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SELECT menu with the HDS.
17. Select FUNCTIONAL TESTS from the TEST MODE menu with the HDS, and enter SELF TEST.
Does the immobilizer indicator come on?
YES -
Go to the PGM-FI system symptom troubleshooting .
NO -
Replace the gauge control module Service and Repair.
