DTC Troubleshooting: B12F2

DTC B12F2:

Power Control Unit Lost Communication With Keyless Access Control Unit

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Make sure the remote is not in the remote slot.

2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

3. Do this procedure 10 times: Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF, ACC, ON, and OFF mode.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B12F2 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

5. Select ONE-PUSH START from the SYSTEM SELECTION MENU with the HDS.

6. Select the KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT and check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

8. Disconnect these items:

- Power control unit connector C (36P)
- Remote slot control unit 40P connector
- Electric steering lock 12P connector
- Keyless access control unit connector B (32P)

9. Check for continuity between body ground and power control unit connector C (36P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire.

NO -

Go to step 10.

10. Check for continuity between keyless access control unit connector B (32P) terminal No. 6 and power control unit connector C (36P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

11. Reconnect these items:

- Power control unit connector C (36P)
- Remote slot control unit 40P connector
- Electric steering lock 12P connector
- Keyless access control unit connector B (32P)

12. Do the battery terminal disconnect procedure.

13. Wait for at least 10 seconds to clear the DTCs.

14. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

15. Turn the keyless access system mode switch ON.

16. If necessary, remove the remote from the remote slot.

17. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then select the OFF mode.

18. Insert the remote into the remote slot.

19. Press and hold the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

Does the mode change to ON?

YES -

Go to step 20.

NO -

Go to step 23.

20. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

21. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF.

22. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B12F2 indicated?

YES -

Replace the keyless access control unit.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

23. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).

24. Select COMMUNICATION STATUS in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

25. Check the value of STATUS with ESL, STATUS with KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT, and STATUS with SLOT with the HDS.





Are only values of status with KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT 1?

YES -

Replace the keyless access control unit.

NO -

Replace the power control unit.
