Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P0606: Engine Control Module (ECM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Processor Malfunction






General Description
If something is wrong in the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM), and the monitor signal from the digital knock system CPU is not received for a set time, or a signal communication error remains for a set time, the ECM/PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Enable Conditions






Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met for at least 5 seconds:
- No signal from the digital knock system CPU is detected.
- Signal from the digital knock system CPU is abnormal.

Driving Pattern
Start the engine, let it idle for at least 30 seconds or hold the engine speed to at least 1,000 rpm.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the ECM/PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
