DTC 1801:
HIP Error

NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- This navigation DTC sets when a problem (open or short) is detected in the COMM BUS.
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the General Troubleshooting Information How To Troubleshoot The Navigation System.
- Check for and resolve any B-CAN DTCs before troubleshooting.
- Check any official Honda service website for any service information about the AcuraLink.
1. Clear the hard error code.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
3. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode.
4. Check the System Links.
Is the XM (HIP) icon red?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Check the System Links.
Is the HFL icon red?
YES -
Do the DTC 2705 troubleshooting Canada Models.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
7. Turn on the audio system, and press the XM button to select the XM radio.
Does the audio system change to XM source?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Go to XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed troubleshooting XM Radio Display Is Blank And No Station Information Is Displayed (USA Models With Navigation).
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
9. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
10. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
11. Check for AcuraLink DTCs with the HDS.
Are any AcuraLink DTCs indicated?
YES -
Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
13. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P).
14. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 15.
15. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 16.
16. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) AcuraLink Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation.
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
