BSI Off Switch Does Not Work




Blind Spot Information System (BSI) Symptom Troubleshooting - BSI OFF switch does not work

BSI OFF switch does not work

NOTE:

- If the system malfunctions, always check for DTCs with the HDS.
- If a DTC is stored, troubleshoot the DTC first.
- Check the BSI OFF switch by pressing and holding it for 1 second.

1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector.

2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

3. Select HISTORY DATA CLEAR in the BSI MENU, and clear the operating history with the HDS.

4. Press and hold the BSI OFF switch for at least 1 second, release the switch, then press and hold the BSI OFF switch again.

5. Select the Data List in the BSI MENU, and check the operating history in the Off to On history of the BSI OFF switch and the On to Off history of the BSI OFF switch with the HDS.

Are both ON?

YES -

The BSI OFF switch is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

NO -

Go to step 6.

6. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

7. Disconnect the multi switch 12P connector.

8. Check the BSI OFF switch (built-in to the multi switch) Service and Repair.

Is it OK?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Replace the BSI OFF switch (built-in to the multi switch) Service and Repair.

9. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

10. Measure the voltage between multi switch 12P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 5.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Go to step 13.

11. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

12. Measure the voltage between multi switch 12P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 5. There should be less than 0.2 V.





Is the voltage as specified?

YES -

Replace the BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation.

NO -

Repair a short to power in the wire between the BSI control unit and the multi switch.

13. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

14. Measure the resistance between multi switch 12P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Go to step 15.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the multi switch and ground (G401).

15. Disconnect the BSI control unit 16P connector.

16. Measure the resistance between BSI control unit 16P connector terminal No. 8 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Go to step 17.

NO -

Repair a short to ground in the wire between the BSI control unit and the multi switch.

17. Measure the resistance between BSI control unit 16P connector terminal No. 8 and multi switch 12P connector terminal No. 5. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Replace the BSI control unit BSI Control Unit Removal/Installation.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the BSI control unit and the multi switch.
