Fuel Fill Door Adapter Replacement

Special Tools Required

- KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014
*Available through the Acura Tool and Equipment Program; call 888-424-6857

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or the related parts.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

Removal

1. Remove the rear inner fender, left side Service and Repair.

2. Remove the fuel filler cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise, and remove the fuel filler cap wire (B) from the hinge arm (C).






3. Turn the fuel cap grommet (A) clockwise, then remove it.






4. From inside the wheelwell, remove the bolt, and lower the fuel filler pipe (A).






5. From inside the wheelwell, carefully push up the adapter lip (A) around the fuel filler pipe (B), and release the hooks (C) from the edge of the body hole with a trim tool.






6. Remove the fuel fill door adapter (A) from the body.






7. Remove the push lifter (A) from the fuel fill door adapter (B).






Installation

1. Install the push lifter (A) to the fuel fill door adapter (B).






2. Remove the maintenance lid from the left rear side trim panel, then move the emergency lever to the locked position Procedures. Make sure the actuator rod (A) becomes extended.






3. Install the fuel fill door adapter (A).

NOTE:

- Pass the actuator rod (B) through the hole (C) of the adapter.
- Push the hooks (D) into place securely.





4. Make sure the adapter lip (A) is fully seated on the fuel filler pipe (B).






5. From inside the wheelwell, make sure the adapter lip (A) is set to the rear inner panel (B), then install the bolt securing the fuel filler pipe (C).






6. Set the fuel cap grommet (A) through the actuator rod (B), and turn the grommet counterclockwise, then install it to the fuel fill door adapter (C).






7. Install the fuel filler cap wire (A) to the hinge arm (B), and install the fuel filler cap (C) by turning it clockwise.






8. Move the knob to the unlocked position Procedures, then close the fuel fill door.

9. Install the rear inner fender, left side Service and Repair.
