Suspension Travel Bumper: Service and Repair
Rear Spring/Bump Stop Removal/Installation

NOTE: Refer to the Exploded View as needed during the following procedure.
Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove the flange nut (A) while holding the joint pin (C) with a hex wrench (D), and disconnect the stabilizer link (E) from lower arm B.
4. Position a floor jack under lower arm B. Raise the floor jack until the suspension begins to compress.
5. Remove the flange bolt (A) from the bottom of the damper.
6. Remove the flange bolt (C) from the knuckle.
7. Lower the floor jack gradually.
8. Remove the spring (A) and the lower spring seat (B).
9. Remove the flange bolt (A) that connects the body, and remove the bump stop (B), the spring guide (C), and the spring mounting cushion (D) if necessary.
Installation
1. Install the bump stop (A), the spring guide (B), and the spring mounting cushion (C), then tighten the flange bolt (D) to the specified torque if removed.
2. Install the spring (A) and the lower spring seat (C). Align the bottom of the spring with the stepped part of the lower spring seat and lower arm B as shown.
3. Position a floor jack under lower arm B. Raise the floor jack until the hole in lower arm B aligns with the hole in the damper, then loosely install the new flange bolt (A) to the bottom of the damper.
4. Loosely install the new flange bolt (C) to the knuckle.
5. Connect the stabilizer link (A) to lower arm B, and install the new flange nut (C), and tighten the flange nut to the specified torque, while holding the joint pin (D) with the hex wrench (E).
6. Raise the rear suspension with the floor jack to load the suspension with the vehicle's weight.
7. Tighten the flange bolts to the specified torque.
8. Clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc/drum and the inside of the wheel, then install the rear wheel.
9. Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary Service and Repair.
