Using Cylinder Leakage Tester


USING CYLINDER LEAKAGE TESTER





Run engine until radiator is warm.
Remove spark plugs.
Turn engine to TDC firing point of cylinder being tested.
Thread adapter into correct spark plug hole and connect to tester.
Connect shop air line and adjust knob to read 100 psi at left gauge.
Right gauge should read at least 90 psi.
Repeat procedure on remaining cylinders.

If gauge reading is below 90 psi:
Check for air flow at:
air intake - leaking intake valve
exhaust pipe - leaking exhaust valve
crankcase breather hose - worn piston rings (slight leakage is normal)
radiator fill cap - bad head gasket or cracked block or cylinder head
