Fig. 12 Glow Plug Relay Socket:
1. Disconnect the glow plug relay from its holder. Ground terminal L, Fig. 12, with a jumper wire, turn the ignition switch to run, and check the glow plug indicator light.
2. If the lamp operates, proceed to step 3. If the lamp does not illuminate, check the circuit from terminal L to the dash light. If the circuit is good, replace the illumination device for the indicator lamp.
3. Disconnect the engine temperature sensor connector and the wire to the glow plugs. Turn the ignition switch to the run position. The indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately thirty seconds. Ground the engine temperature sensor and ensure that the indicator lamp goes out. If the light fails to illuminate, replace the glow plug relay. If the light illuminates, but fails to go out when the engine sensor is grounded, replace the sensor.
