4000 & Coupe W/013 5 Speed Transmission

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove upper engine to transmission attaching bolts.
3. Disconnect speedometer cable and unhook clutch cable.
4. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
5. Remove engine stop attaching bolts.
6. Remove front muffler and exhaust pipe.
7. Disconnect driveshafts at transmission.
8. Disconnect electrical connectors for back-up lights.
9. Remove transmission cover plate attaching bolts and the lower starter attaching bolt.
10. Remove shift rod coupling bolt at rear of shift rod, pry off shift rod coupling ball, and pull shift rod coupling off of shift rod.
11. Position suitable jack under transmission and lift transmission slightly.
12. Loosen rear attaching bolt of right hand transmission support.
13. Remove front attaching bolt of right hand transmission support.
14. Pivot transmission support toward rear of vehicle.
15. Remove rubber mount from bracket at front of right hand transmission support.
16. Remove front bracket attaching bolts.
17. Remove lower engine to transmission attaching bolts, then pry transmission from engine.
18. Lower transmission and remove from beneath vehicle.
19. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Coat mainshaft splines with suitable lubricant.
b. Ensure that cover plate is properly seated.
c. Ensure that engine and transmission mounts are properly aligned and free of tension.
d. Adjust shifting mechanism as necessary.
e. Torque cover plate to transmission attaching bolts and shift rod coupling attaching bolt to 7 ft.lbs.
f. Torque starter mounting bolts to 14 ft.lbs.
g. Torque engine stop to block attaching bolts, front bracket to transmission attaching bolts, muffler to catalytic converter attaching bolts, and rubber mount to bracket attaching bolts to 18 ft.lbs.
h. Torque exhaust pipe to manifold attaching bolts to 22 ft.lbs.
i. Torque driveshaft to flange attaching bolts to 33 ft.lbs.
j. Torque transmission to engine attaching bolts to 40 ft.lbs.
k. Torque subframe/support to body attaching bolts to 51 ft.lbs.
l. Torque rubber mount to body attaching bolts to 80 ft.lbs.
