Removing Adjustment Plug

(WHERE APPLICABLE)

NOTE: To prevent unauthorized CO adjustment, opening for CO adjustment is sealed by aluminum plug with steel bottom plate. If CO adjustment is required, proceed as follows:

- remove boot on mixture-control unit
- center-punch plug in CO adjusting hole
- drill 2.5 mm (3/32 in.) hole in center of plug 3.5 - 4.0 mm (9/64 - 5/32 in.) deep

CAUTION: Clean up any metal shavings

- screw in 3 mm (118 in.) sheet-metal screw
- remove plug with screw, using pliers
- reinstall boot on mixture control unit
- adjust CO
- drive in new plug, Part No. 049 133 777B, flush with mixture-control unit

WARNING: Do not let vehicle leave dealership without installing new plug. Failure to install it is considered by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to be "tampering"
