5000 MODELS EXC. 5000S QUATTRO

When disassembling strut, compress spring with tool US1117 or equivalent and remove nut from shock absorber using tool 3017A or equivalent. When assembling, note the following:
1. Push protective cap over shock absorber.
2. Push bump stop into protective sleeve and attach to rubber damper ring.
3. Dust rubber cap and rubber damper ring with talcum powder.
4. Hole in upper retainer ring must be centered.
5. Lower end of left side coil spring must point toward rear and lower end of right side must point toward front.

5000S QUATTRO

When disassembling strut, use tool VW340 or equivalent to compress spring. When assembling, note assembling instructions under ``5000 Models Exc. 5000S Quattro.'' Additionally, ensure two lugs of damper ring are seated against spring and that stop for coil spring is aligned with hole for shock absorber mounting.
