Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection





Ignition wire/connectors, rotor and ignition coil, checking
- for the following resistance readings use tester US 1119 digital multimeter
- connect tester according to manufacturer's instructions





- check ignition wires
^ between coil and distributor
with radio: 2000 ± 800 ohms
without radio: 0 ohms

^ between distributor and spark plug
with radio: 6000 ± 1400 ohms
without radio: 1000 ± 400 ohms

^ If not within tolerance go to next check





- check spark plug connector 1
^ with radio (suppressed): 5000 ± 1000 ohms
^ without radio (not suppressed): 1000 ± 400 ohms
- check ignition wire 2 for continuity





- check suppressor 3
^ resistance: 1000 ± 400 ohms

Ignition cable connections (1985 M.Y.)





- Distributor cap, ignition coil, spark plug and noise suppression connections have been changed to new style

Note: Components with new type (M4) connectors are not interchangeable with old style. If replacement is required, install complete set with all connectors of same type.
