Parking Brake System: Adjustments
NOTE: Because of self-adjusting rear brakes, adjustment is only necessary after replacement of parking brake lever cable, backing plate, adjusting rod or brake shoes.1. Release parking brake lever.
Parking Brake Adjusting Nut:
2. Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut.
3. Firmly depress service brake pedal once.
4. Pull parking brake lever to third notch.
5. Tighten adjusting nut until both rear wheels can just be turned by hand.
6. Release parking brake and ensure both wheels turn freely.
7. Check that brake warning light comes on then parking brake lever is pulled to first notch, and goes out when brake lever is fully released (ignition ON).
8. Lubricate equalizer with suitable grease.
9. Check ease of parking brake operation.
