Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Note: The following checking procedures are valid only when the work area temperature is within 65°F to 83°F (l8°C to 29°C). If the temperature is considerably higher or lower, the results of the system check may not be correct.








Checking System Operation

Checking Temperature Cable Adjustment

- Turn ignition "ON".
- Set control panel to AUTO and temperature setting to HI.
- Wait 2 minutes.





- Check cable adjustment at heat exchanger, adjust if necessary.
- Set control panel temperature to LO.
- Wait 2 minutes.
- Check cable adjustment at heat exchanger, adjust if necessary.

Checking A/C Cooling Performance

- Insert thermometer into center dash vent
- Open all dash vents
- Start engine and set control panel to AUTO and temperature to LO
- Run engine at 2000 RPM

^ If ambient temperature is below 90°F (32°C), open doors
^ If ambient temperature is above 90°F (32°C), close doors





- After 5 minutes, vent temperature should coincide with graph.
