VOLTAGE SUPPLY, CHECKING

- disconnect idle and full throttle switch harness connector from throttle switch assembly

- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminal 2 of throttle switch harness connector (C) and ground
- switch ignition ON
- specification: approximately 12 volts
- switch ignition OFF

IF NO
- repair break in wiring using wiring diagram

IDLE SWITCH ADJUSTING
Requirement:
- Basic throttle adjustment OK

- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminals 1 and 2 of throttle switch connector
- specification: approximately zero ohms (continuity)
- operate throttle switch using throttle lever
- measurement should change to infinite ohms

NOTE: To adjust the idle switch, the throttle body must first be removed

- insert 0.1 mm (0.004 in.) feeler gauge between throttle valve stop and adjusting screw
- loosen throttle switch assembly mounting screws

- turn throttle switch assembly clockwise (arrow A) as tar as possible, then slowly turn counterclock wise (arrow B) until multimeter indicates zero ohms (continuity)
- tighten mounting screws
- repeat measurement

IF NOT OK
- replace idle switch and adjust as described

IF OK
- check full throttle switch

FULL THROTTLE SWITCH, CHECKING

NOTE: The full throttle switch cannot be adjusted. It is correctly adjusted automatically when the idle switch is properly adjusted.

- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminals 2 and 3 of throttle switch
^ specification: infinite ohms

- operate full throttle switch using throttle lever
- measurement should change to approximately zero ohms (continuity)

If specified value NOT obtained
- adjust idle switch
- repeat measurement

If specified value still NOT obtained
- replace full throttle switch

If specified value IS obtained, BUT a problem persists
- check wiring between throttle switch harness connector and control unit harness connector as follows:
- remove right side footwell trim panel to expose control unit
- disconnect control unit harness connector
- measure resistance between harness connector terminals (C) on throttle switch and control unit harness connector terminals
- throttle switch connector terminal 1 and control unit connector terminal 20
- throttle switch connector terminal 3 and control unit connector terminal 26
^ specification: approximately zero ohms (continuity)

If specified value is NOT obtained
- repair break in wiring using wiring diagram

If specified value is still NOT obtained, and a problem persists
- replace control unit
