Boost Pressure Test

Fig. 1 Turbocharger Pressure:

1. Disconnect vacuum hose from intake manifold connector.
2. Using T-fitting, install suitable pressure gauge in vacuum hose, then reconnect hose to intake manifold and secure all vacuum hose connections with hose clamps.
3. Position pressure gauge so that it can be read from driver's seat. Open pressure gauge by moving sleeve towards the gauge head.
4. Run engine until it reaches operating temperature.
5. Accelerate at full throttle in second gear, while holding vehicle speed constant with foot brake when engine speed reaches 5500 RPM. Do not exceed 10 seconds test time per measurement.
6. With accelerator held open, close pressure gauge by sliding the sleeve away from the gauge. Boost pressure should match the values given in Fig. 1.
7. If boost pressure is not within specifications, replace wastegate and repeat test.
8. If boost pressure is still not within specifications, install original wastegate and replace turbocharger.
