A/C Compressor

Purpose and Operation
A new style A/C compressor is used in conjunction with the new climate control system. The unit is a Nippondenso 10 cylinder reciprocating piston design. The compressor uses a swash plate which operates five sets of double acting pistons. This style of compressor helps reduce pressure surges when the compressor clutch cycles.


Two mounting brackets attach to the compressor and are then bolted to a carriage bracket which mounts to the engine. A threaded adjustment bracket is used to tension the compressor drive belt.

A low pressure service port is also located on the compressor suction fitting.

Compressor oil capacity is 2.7 oz. (76 grams). When installing a new compressor, remove the low pressure port cover and drain oil from compressor. Add the above amount of new refrigerant oil and replace the low pressure port cover.
