Voltage Supply For Idle And Full Throttle Switch, Checking





- remove harness connector to idle and full throttle switch on throttle body (arrow)





Throttle Switch, Harness Connector
- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminal 2 of disconnected throttle switch connector and engine ground
- switch ignition ON
^ specification: approximately 12 volts

If specification is NOT obtained
- repair break in wiring according to wiring diagram

Idle Switch, Checking
(Fault code 2121)





- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminal 1 and terminal 2 (with throttle fully closed)
^ specification: 0 ohms
- move throttle valve 0.5 to 0.7 mm (0.020 to 0.028 in)

NOTE: This measurement is made with a feeler gauge between the throttle valve stop and the adjustment screw.

- resistance should change from 0 ohms (with throttle closed) to ohms as throttle gap increases beyond 0.5 mm (0.020 in)

If specifications are NOT obtained
- adjust idle switch

If specifications ARE obtained
- check full throttle switch

Full Throttle Switch, Checking
(Fault code 2123)





- connect multimeter US 1119 between terminals 2 and 3 of throttle switch connector
^ specification: ohm
- operate switch using throttle valve lever
^ specification: approximately 0 ohms

If specification is NOT obtained
- replace and adjust full throttle switch

If specification IS obtained, check wiring between throttle switch connector and fuel injection control unit connectors as follows:
- remove control unit access covers in foot wells, driver side left and passenger side right, and pull hamess connectors off of knock sensor ignition and fuel injection control units, respectively

25 Pin Harness Connector, Knock Sensor Ignition Control Unit:

35 Pin Harness Connector, Fuel Injection Control Unit:

3 Pin Throttle Switch, Harness Connector:

- using multimeter check resistance between throttle switch connector (3 pin) and control unit connectors as follows:
^ 3 pin throttle switch connector terminal 1 and 25 pin ignition control unit connector terminal 7
^ 3 pin throttle switch connector terminal 1 and 35 pin ignition control unit connector terminal 28
^ 3 pin throttle switch connector terminal 3 and 25 pin ignition control unit connector terminal 9
^ 3 pin throttle switch connector terminal 3 and 35 pin ignition control unit connector terminal 31
- specification:all checks approximately 0.2 ohms

If specification is NOT obtained
- repair break in wiring using wiring diagram
