Distributor: Description and Operation

Ignition Distributor (Engines W/Computer Controlled Ignition Timing):





The distributor, Fig. 57, is driven from the back of the camshaft, and serves only two purposes:
To send a 60° BTDC signal to the control unit.
To distribute secondary ignition voltage to the proper cylinder.
All timing functions are controlled by the control unit based on various sensor inputs, and a pre-programmed timing map.
