Diagnostic Strategies

1. If the engine warning light in the instrument panel blinks while driving, the knock regulation is at its limit. See fault code 2141 for repair procedure.
2. If a strong smell of fuel is detected in the engine compartment, check the charcoal canister shut-off solenoid. Repair any faulty hose connections, and replace the solenoid or any defective hoses as needed.
3. If either electronic control unit is replaced, the ignition timing must be checked, and adjusted if necessary.
4. If it is determined that there are several faults, they must be found and repaired in the order that they are displayed.
