Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair

80/90 & 4000 MODELS

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen drive belt adjusting bolt and swing pump downward, then remove drive belt.
3. Remove power steering pump pulley.
4. Disconnect pressure and suction hoses at pump.
5. Remove pump to mounts attaching bolts and remove pump.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque pump to mounts attaching bolts to 14 ft.lbs.
b. Torque pressure and suction hoses to 29 ft.lbs.
c. Ensure mark ``4-Z'' or ``5-Z'' is on outer face of pulley.
d. Torque pulley attaching bolts to 14 ft.lbs.
e. Adjust drive belt with adjuster bolt.
