Front Seat Backrest - Rattles, Squeaks


Cause:
A. Insufficient wax applied to paper cord of padding.

B. Cushion wire rubs on headrest adjustable support.

C. Inadequate mounting (screw M6) between backrest and seat frame.

A. Hot waxing of cord incorporated.

C. Modification of backrest mounting and installation of additional eccentric washers.

Service:
A. Spray paper cord with transparent preservative wax, P/N AKR 321 M15 4.

B. Check cushion wire for free movement. Adjust length if necessary.

C. Secure mounting screws M6 (starting torque 8 N-m) with liquid locking compound, P/N D 000 600.

NOTE:
When installing new backrest (i.e. P/N 893 881 045 AF), both eccentric washers must be used:
On door side:
Washer, P/N 443 881 645,
with Screw, P/N 431 881 357

On tunnel side:
Washer, P/N 893 881 645,
with Screw, P/N N 033 042 1

Fasten backrest firmly by turning eccentric washers.
