Power Locks: Description and Operation
Circuit Description
All electrical power for the central locking system is supplied via fuse #19 (S19) on the main fuse/relay panel. The circuit is powered whenever the battery is connected. Electrical components of the system include the left-front and right-front central lock system switches (master actuators) and the central lock system motor(bi-pressure pump), which includes the system's electronic control unit.
The central lock system motor/control unit also receives battery voltage input from the ignition/start switch (terminal 86S) whenever the ignition key is inserted. With this input, the motor/control unit disables the right-front door switch to prevent locking the car with the key inside.
NOTE: If the system has not been activated for an extended period, the key may need to be turned in the front door lock several times to activate system. When functioning properly, all locks will close within three to seven seconds.
