Refrigerant: Service and Repair
CAUTION:Do not leave the A/C system open for a long period of time. Prolonged exposure to the air will contaminate the system and will require the replacement of certain A/C components (restrictor, accumulator, etc.).
1. Disconnect power supply from compressor clutch (for example, remove connector from high pressure cut-out switch -F118-) to prevent damage to system if compressor is accidentally switched ON with refrigerant system discharged.
2. Close both valves on A/C manifold gauge set, then connect hose 1 from low pressure gauge to low pressure service valve on compressor.
3. Remove A/C refrigerant high pressure switch (red housing) in A/C line between condenser and compressor on 2.0L/4-121 engines and in A/C line between condenser and evaporator on 2.3L/5-141 & 2.3L/5-141 20V engines.
4. Connect hose 3 from high pressure gauge to high pressure service valve located in A/C line between condenser and compressor, then the manifold gauge hose 2 to inlet connection 4 on refrigerant recovery/recycling unit 5.
5. Follow refrigerant recovery/recycling unit manufacturer's instructions to discharge A/C system into recovery/recycling unit.
6. Close manifold gauge valves when refrigerant is fully discharged.
