Engine vibration, reducing

Rumbling noises and engine vibration in the passenger compartment when engine is idling and automatic transmission is engaged in drive may be reduced by adjustment or modification of the front motor mount.

A minimum clearance of 1.0 mm (3/64 in.) between mount and mount bracket must be maintained when engine is idling in drive (as shown)

80/90

^ loosen front motor mount bracket

^ slide bracket upward to achieve 1.0 mm (3/64 in.) clearance (arrow A)

^ mounting holes may be elongated if necessary (arrow B)

^ retighten motor mount bracket

^ recheck for vibration with engine at operating temperature and automatic transmission engaged in drive

100

^ remove front rubber mount from base (arrow)

^ trim rubber mount (as shown) in increments of at least 1.0 mm (3/64 in.) with utility knife until vibration is reduced

^ DO NOT trim more than 5.0 mm (13/64 in.) in total

^ reinstall rubber mount (arrow B) with trimmed side upward (arrow A)

^ recheck for vibration with engine at operating temperature and automatic transmission engaged in drive
