SUBJECT:
Fault Code 2132
MODEL(S):
All with CIS-E III Fuel/Ignition system 1987-1991 m.y.
This Technical Bulletin Supercedes No. 91-11, Group 25 of 8/31/91
SYMPTOMS:
A) Poor driveability WITH Fault Code 2132
or
B) Fault Code 2132 with NO driveability complaint.
CONDITION:
Incorrect Fuel and/or Ignition control unit inadvertently installed in vehicle.
SERVICE SOLUTION:
Verify that part numbers of control units in vehicle agree with those given in the reference chart.
Before using the reference chart:
^ you MUST identify which one of the following emission certification categories the vehicle in question belongs to:
^ California
^ 49 States
^ Canada
^ Obtain this information from the Vehicle Emissions Control Information label, located in the engine compartment
It will appear on the bottom of the label as ONE of the following:
^ California = This vehicle conforms to California regulations.
^ 49 States = This vehicle conforms to US EPA regulations.
^ Canada = This vehicle conforms to CMVS regulations applicable to 19__ model year, new motor vehicles.
^ also identify the vehicle in question by using the "system identification" characteristics listed in the reference chart
If Fault code 2132 is present:
^ follow troubleshooting procedures for Fault Code 2132 as outlined in Repair Group D2 of the appropriate Repair microfiche
Note
Fault Code 2132 applies to ALL US vehicles. In the past this code has erroneously been described as applying ONLY to California vehicles.
For the purposes of this circular when making comparisons with the reference chart:
^ Ignore any color coded dots that might accompany the part numbers on the control units
