Subject: Engine Oil Leak - Cam Cover Gasket


Model(s): All Models Vith Non-Turbo 5 Cylinder Gasoline Engines


Condition:

Engine oil leaks around cam cover gasket current cork gasket becomes brittle and deformed.


Production Change:

Introduction of new cam cover gasket, made with "ACM" rubber gasket material.

Service:

Install "ACM" rubber cam cover gasket, in place of old style cork gasket. Using the following parts:

P/N 034-198-025D - use with shouldered cam cover stud.

P/N 034-198-025C - use with non-shouldered cam cover stud.


Caution
Sealing surface of cam cover must be straight and flat. If not straight, the cover will leak around the area of the mounting holes.

If straightening is not possible, replace can cover and install new rubber gasket.
