THIS TECHNICAL BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL BULLETIN GROUP 19, NO. 92-01 DATED 03/15/92. CORRECTED INFORMATION (IN BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS) IN ILLUSTRATION AND WIRING ON PAGE 1.

When replacing the cooling fan motor (Part No. 431 959 455 L or 191 959 455 AC) use replacement part: Part No. 165 959 455 AE

The following additional parts are required:

Part numbers are for reference only, contact your parts department for any changes


Caution

The hard shell connector on the replacement radiator cooling fan motor is differently shaped than the factory unit. To prevent damage to the cooling fan motor, the wiring harness must be changed as follows.





Service

- Disconnect cooling fan harness conne'etor and cut the wires off right behind the housing

- Remove old rubber protective cap

- Push rubber grommets onto wires as shown

- Strip wires and properly crimp terminals to wires

- Insert terminals into housing as shown

RED/BLK SOCKET #1
red/blue socket #2
BROWN SOCKET #3





- Push grommets into connector housing with installation tool Part No. 000 097 105

Note

If you don't use the installation tool make sure that the grommets fit properly in the housing


- Install the new cooling fan motor

- Connect the new harness connector to the new cooling fan motor

- Quality check for high and low speed fan operation
