Output Diagnostic Test Mode

OUTPUT DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE

^ When Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) has been selected via the Scan Tool, the function of the solenoid valves 1 (N 88), 2 (N 89) and 3 (N 90) also the (CCS) relay and the relay for the solenoid valves can be checked audibly.

^ The immediate area around the vehicle must be quiet, if quiet is not avalible the activation can be checked by using the procedure in Electrical Tests.

^ The function of the solenoid valves 4 (N 91), 5 (N 92) and the kick-down switch (F 8) (A/C cut-out) can only be checked with the procedures in Electrical Tests.

^ The output check diagnosis can only be carried out with the engine off and the vehicle stationary.

^ Avoid background noise during audible check of injectors. The clicking sound from the injectors is very soft and short.

^ The Output DTM will be interrupted if engine is started or if a speed pulse is detected.

Output DTM activation sequence

1 Solenoid valve 1 - N 88

Procedure

- Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool, refer to Connecting and Operating VAG 1551 Scan Tool. Connecting and Operating VAG 1551 Scan Tool

- Press 0 and 2 buttons to select address word 02 "Transmission electronics" and continue switching until display appears as shown:

- Press buttons 0 and 3 to select function 03 "Output Diagnostic Test Mode".

- Display will appear as shown:

- Press Q button to enter input.

Solenoid Valve 1 - N 88

- Solenoid will click for 30 seconds

To switch to the next component,

- Press "Arrow" button.

- Check all components in sequence this way, see activation sequence.

- At the end of the activation sequence the display will appear as shown:

- Select 05 to end the output.

If function O3 "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" is selected again, the Output check can be repeated.

- If one of the components does not click, or cannot be heard use the Electrical Tests to check for a signal to the component from the TCM. Electrical Tests with VAG 1598
