Throttle Full Open Switch HVAC: Testing and Inspection

Before performing electrical tests, see test conditions.

Use the Following Tools When Troubleshooting The Climate Control System
- Hand vacuum pump (US 8026 or equivalent).
- Digital multimeter (US 1119 or equivalent).
- LED test light (US 1115, VAG 1527a or equivalent).
- Auxiliary test set (VW 1594 or equivalent).
- Digital potentiometer (VAG 1630 or equivalent).

Test Conditions
- Fuses OK (check according to wiring diagram).
- Ambient temperature above 10°C (50°F).
- Engine at normal operating temperature.
- Vehicle not parked in direct sunlight.

NOTES:
- When the kick-down is activated, the A/C compressor is switched OFF for 12 seconds.
- The A/C kick-down function is controlled by:
^ Manual transmission - via transmission switch, 1st gear (F15) and full throttle switch (F81).
^ Automatic transmission - via automatic transmission control unit (J217) and kickdown switch (F8).
